CoronaEpidemic– “ Tu Jiyro Ai”- “You are Alive” Campaign
It was decided to start the work during the epidemic faced in the initial stage of setting up of Lokvaani and a movement was undertaken for the same. This movement was conducted in 2 parts. The first phase of Covid is considered as first part of this campaign
Pahse 1 “Tu Jiyro Aai”- You are alive- Program
Thus it was known from the above issues that communication should be started with the people in the local language and by providing the appropriate examples. In this way under the banner of “Tu Jiyro Ai”- You are alive, 24 audio programs.
The program format of 10 minutes was interview-based. The various specialist doctors and community leaders have been involved in bringing forward the facts in a special way so that the people feel that the information of the program is appropriate and true.
In order to make the information reach the maximum number of people, proper coordination was done with the following people, groups, and organizations-
Phase 2: Patipen (slate and pencil) The process of this campaign started voluntarily in the end of March 2020. This campaign can be accelerated and started quickly as it is prepared on the route.
The main idea was this,
Both Pati and Pen are sisters, who are concerned about the situation of Corona. They do not like the environment of home, school, and village. They want to prevent the situation of covid. They want to study and play with their friend, So Kunjal bird comes to help them. And sitting on its wings they meet all the people, children in Kutch. Talks to them and shows the solution to arise in Corona
To thoughts on ” Patipen ” (slate and pencil) with audio-visual programs, songs, syllabus, health habits during COVID-19 19, and programs promoting health and education culture. A 50-episode program aired on community radio was extended to the population of Kutch.
Street Play:
Street play is also an effective medium to bring mass awareness among the people. Awareness program related to COVID-19 and girls’ education was done through performing street plays in a total of 10 villages by the students from the journalism department, at Gujarat University
1) Spread through WhatsApp
Social media is being used on a large scale and the rural community is mostly using WhatsApp as a medium. During this time total of 5 WhatsApp groups were created by Lokvani involving 1000 people. Apart from this other groups were also included.
Use of Cable Casting medium :
So far 40 programs have been telecasted on cable through which the programs have been disseminated to more than 450 villages of Kutch and uploaded on YouTube. According to this, the program is getting more than 300 responses.
Corona awareness rath campaign – Jago loko Jago:
local dialect 8 songs have been recorded and the production of the awareness material has been done as part of the Covid awareness campaign. The campaign was run for 16 days. Information on COVID-19 and steps taken by the government on vaccination was made to reach out to the people.
Awareness will be held in as many as 160 villages and 10 talukas. The area of Kutch has been covered up to 3500 kilometers.
Use of IVRS medium for woman
During the corona epidemic, there was an increase in cases of domestic violence. Issues related to women’s and children’s health came forward and the burden of children’s education increased. For this, 5500 women were made aware of various issues.
Awareness related to women and child healthcare
Mobile-based technology work is carried out with women from different communities like Agaria community women, fishing community, urban slums, migrants, farmers, etc. An attempt has been made to cover the larger women groups.
In times like COVID-19, women were more concerned about protecting children and elders, and many women were in doubt due to the lack of information. There was also space to present their questions. Rural community women have a simple phone, they do not have a smartphone, so they are not able to get relevant information through the medium of mobile.
Hence, Interactive voice response systems,- IVRS technology was used through Lokvani in which message was sent to more than 5000 women simultaneously and in which women also shared the answer to the message and other questions. 3 messages were sent every week and 105 messages were sent.
